Ayurveda Q&A: Home remedies for eye strain

1. Dear Sir, What can I do for swollen upper eyelids, especially in the morning? Sometimes they stick to the lower lid and are not wont to open. I have not made any changes in my makeup at all, and I would certainly appreciate any suggestions for a remedy that you may offer.

The symptoms suggestive of Chronic Anemia and Eye fatigue. Also you may have to check your Hb, Vitamin A and D levels, Thyroid profiles.

Common home remedies can help you.

a. Cold water – Washing face with ice cold water from time to time

b. Low sodium intake

c. Water – Drinking lots of water can flush out the germs from the system and also prevent dehydration, thus helping the treatment of the disease.

d. Cucumber – Applying cucumber slices over the eyes for several minutes can be a highly effective.

e. Avoidance of allergen – In some cases, the use of a certain product may produce an allergic reaction in the body, causing an inflammation of the eyelids. In such cases, it is necessary to avoid using the substance. Non-use of the substance can make the Swollen Eyelid painful symptoms go away more rapidly.

f. Eye creams – Eye cream rich in Vitamin E and Aloe Vera to bring about relief to the affected area.

g. Warm compress – Applying heat over the swollen area with a damp, warm cloth for 2-3 times daily can lower the swelling and make the symptoms go away

Medicines like Yograj-Guggulu, Maha-Yograj-Guggulu, Tapyadi-Loh, Ekang-Veer-Ras, Maha-Vat-Vidhvans, Bruhat-Vat-Chintamani, Chandrakala-Ras, Sarpagandha (Rauwolfia serpentina), Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Kuchla (Strychnos nuxvomica) and Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Mandukparni (Centella asiatica), Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi), Shallaki (Boswellia serrata), Nirgundi (Vitex negundo), Tagar (Valeriana wallichii) and Khurasani ova (Hyoscyamus niger).

2. Dear Sir, My 8 years old daughter is suffering from Struge weber syndrome, Please suggest any remedy. Best Regards
Sturge-Weber syndrome is a rare disorder that is present at birth. A child with this condition will have a port-wine stain birthmark (usually on the face) and nervous system problems like convulsions and seizures.

It requires a personalized one to one care for better healing and management. I suggest you to visit the near by Ayurveda physician or a hospital for better help. Of course Ayurveda can improve the physical and psychological condition better than any other medical system.

3. i am 26 years old i am loosing a lot of hair i am not able to understand the exact cause i had tried a lot of creams nd medicines bt it didnt helpd me up to the mark so pls help me with a nice remedy
Hair fall could be due to many reasons, Poor antioxidants, reduced water intake, fruits and greens, reduced protein, iron and folic acid absorption etc. Pollution also plays a major role in hair fall. Understanding the right cause helps in complete healing.

As i understand from the statement you may require all three levels of treatment, detoxification, pacification and rejuvenation treatments. Depends on the functional elements and your age and seasonal factors one of five detoxification treatments are selected and administered for a period of 7-14 days. followed by diet and medicinal intake and therapies. Rejuvenation phase inclusive of yoga, daily application of herbal powders etc.

As a very effective home remedy scalp pack of 100 gm of Amla powder + 50 ml of fresh curd + 5 ml of fresh lemon juice applied as pack followed by warm water bath after 45 minutes. This therapy needs to be repeated for 40 days.

Internal medicines like Loha asavam 30 ml + Sudarshanam choornam tablets 2 + Navaka Guggulu 2 + Saptamrutha Loha 2 after food helps.

I suggest you to visit the near by Ayurveda Pancha Karma facility for complete healing. This treatment protocol may take some time but it gives you remarkable results once done properly.

4. i am suffering from dementia since last ten year and have tried many allopathic medicine but not filling good and i have lost my all ambitions and emotions so give me right treatment for normal mental living. thanks

Weight loss requires a holistic approach. Diet, exercise and detoxification medicines can bring back the normalcy in no time. Cycling / Swimming are the best exercise to loose weight. Try to walk at least 30 -45 minutes a day, this will help you to real tone up and fat burn and gain strength and stability.

Simple Apple diet is one of the best ways to loose weight. Take one apple before breakfast, two before lunch and two before dinner followed by regular food. I have seen patients loosing up to 9 Kg in just 100 days.
