Ayurvedic porridge for weight loss

This remedy is taken from one of oldest Ayurveda cook book ‘Sarabendra Paka Shastra’, which talks about more than 1000 healthy and tasteful  recipes. (Ref: Sarabendra Paka Shastra)

50g wheat

25g rice

25g green gram

3g cumin seeds

2g ghee


Method of preparation:

Wash green gram and soak in water overnight

Wash rice thoroughly

Clean the wheat, break it and roast in until it becomes golden yellow in colour

Heat ghee in a pan and fry the cumin seeds until they splutter

Add roasted wheat, cleaned and water soaked rice and green gram

Add sufficient water and salt

Cook until the water dries up completely, stirring continuously. OR add sufficient water and pressure cook.

Always serve hot

Approximate nutritional value: 100 Kcal

Protein: 4 grams

Fats: 1.6 grams

Dietary fibre: 4 grams

It is a good source of thiamin, niacin, selenium, magnesium and iron.

Additional inputs:
a) Add dry fruits or fresh fruits to improve the taste and look
b) Usually advised for breakfast with milk or evening snack
c) Good recipe for losing weight swiftly
d) Three cups of this for 30 days will help lose 3 kg weight
