Ayurvedic recipe: Diwali Halwa
Ayurveda, the science of life talks about many sweet recipes which are good for health and specifically help to manage festival disorders and diseases.
One such recipe is good for disorders like indigestion, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, fever, heaviness of the abdomen, distaste etc caused by binging during Diwali. It is also helps improve digestion and metabolism.
Omam/ajwain seeds – 1 cup
Jeera/cumin seeds – 3 tablespoon
Black pepper – 3 tablespoon
Long pepper – 12 numbers
Coriander seeds – 4 tablespoon
Cardamom powder – 1 tablespoon
Dry ginger powder – 1 tablespoon
Country sugar – 100 gm
Ghee – 12 gm
a. Fry cumin seeds, long pepper, and black pepper until it becomes crisp; powder it
b. Mix ginger, cardamom, with above powder
c. Make a sugar syrup with water and country sugar
d. Add all the powders one by one and stir constantly until it becomes a semi-solid paste/Lehya
e. Add ghee and stir well
