Back Care Awareness Week: Save your spine
Back pain is a common complaint among adults today. Don`t believe it? Try to think of 10 people you know not one of whom is afflicted by this problem. There…you see, it`s just not possible.
While there are a number of factors causing back pain – sedentary lifestyle and occupational hazards being the most relevant today – we should remember that we have brought on the aches that we complain about.
Little acts of carelessness starting with the casual slinging of the fully-loaded school bag over one shoulder while trudging to school to the favourite slumping posture at work or in front of the television, to the sudden lifting/moving of heavy objects which gives you the momentary feeling of being the World Heavy Weight Champion, all these and more culminate in back pain.
And, while you are busy trying to figure out what set off the pain and struggling to choose from the myriad treatment options available, we urge you to remember not to let the pain take over. So, let thoughts of the most pleasant moments of your life give you the determination to fight pain. After all, you are the master!
The wide-spread prevalence of back pain has made it necessary for health organisations and governments to dedicate an entire week to its awareness. So, we observe World Back Care Awareness Week in the second week of September.
