Countdown to World Heart Day, 26 September 2010
You could blame it on our genes, our lifestyle or our diets.
But heart disease continues to be single largest cause of death in India, with heart attacks accounting for one-third of all deaths caused by cardiac disease.
The death of Tamil actor Murali, who died recently at the age of 46, shows that age is no factor when it comes to cardiac arrests.
So, who’s at risk? Answer the following to see if you are:
Do you eat a healthy diet regularly?
Do you get 30 minutes of physical activity daily?
Are your blood pressure, blood sugar levels and cholesterol under control?
If the answers to all these questions are positive and you are non-smoker, chances are your heart is in good condition now.
The World Health Organisation has been observing the last Sunday of September as World Heart Day.
