Flax seed: The ideal weight loss food

Flax seed is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which prevent chronic diseases including heart disease, arthritis, asthma and diabetes.

Flax seeds are a valuable source of soluble and insoluble fibres that help in better digestion and reduce cholesterol levels.

By nature of its healthy fat and high fiber content, low carb flax seed make an ideal weight loss food. Add a few teaspoonfuls to your curries, chutneys and powders and it`s sure to enhance the flavour of your dishes, and make you feel satisfied with smaller servings.

Here`s a chutney powder recipe that can be stored and eaten with idli, dosa or even ghee rice:

Ingredients:
1/2 cup peanuts
2 tbsp ground flax seeds powder
1/4 cup coriander seeds
1 tbsp black peppercorns, whole
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
Salt

Method:

1. Dry roast all the ingredients except chilli powder and salt. Keep aside to cool.
2. When the contents become cold, grind them into a fine powder by adding chilli powder and salt.
3. Enjoy this yummy powder with steaming hot rice and a dollop of ghee.
