Hair and make-up tips for this Holi season

celeb_240x240_mar14Celeb make-up and hair designer Ms. Ruhee M. Bindra shows us how to create a minimalistic, effortless and chic look this Holi!

Makeup: Smudgeproof, waterproof is the key

Since holi is a festival of colours, waterproof make up is the key to a look for a holi party. Since colors have chemicals and they are very harsh for the mane and skin, go for organic colors than chemical ones.

Make sure you apply a good sunscreen with a high SPF.

Apply waterproof BB or CC cream along with a moisturizer like MAC Strobe cream. Use a setting powder like MAC Studio Fix.

Don’t opt for a heavy duty make up look or hair do. Keep it minimal and basic.

Avoid applying eyeshadows since they might get wiped off by water and color and look patchy. You can apply a waterproof and smudge proof kohl pencil, and if you want to add color, you can use a kohl pencil in colors other than black.

Use a waterproof pencil in any color to draw an eyeliner and give it a smokey and smudged look. So you need not worry about your eyeliner or mascara smudging or running down.

Use a light waterproof mascara.

Apply a glint of blush tint (a cheek tint from Benefit would be ideal for this). So that it blends into the skin and doesn’t become blotchy while playing holi.

Define your lips well with a matte natural shade lip color and blend it all over the lips for a natural look.

Styling your hair: Keep it simple and effortless

Since colors are very harsh to our tresses the best and simplest hair-do for this holi season is a sleek back hair. You can oil your hair well or use a hair spray with sunscreen for hair.

While you play with colors and water, your hair-do might not stay intact so refrain from a fancy hair do.

Keep it basic and clean. Try to keep your hair tied so that it remains neat till the end and at the same time your hair wont get damaged either. You can go for a sleek back high pony tail. Sleek back hair which is tied well and styled as an up-do is ideal.
Another option would be to go for a high french or a fish tail braid.

Avoid leaving your hair open.Whatever styling you do will get washed off with the colour and water.

Dont waste your time on styling your hair into fancy up-dos. Keep it simple and carry your look effortlessly.

Post Holi Skin and Hair Care

Make sure you scrub your face and body with an oil based body and face scrub. Use a good cleanser to cleanse your skin post holi.

Use an oil-based face wash so that your skin doesn’t become dry.

Wash your hair thoroughly with a good shampoo and conditioner followed by a leave-in spray.

Go for a body polish and glycolic face peel to rejuvenate your skin and to clean the dead cells.

Go for a hair power-dose treatment, to retain its texture, moisture and quality.
