This week’s answers:
1. I want to know thw name of the DVD which has good yoga excercises to reduce tummy and have flat stomach.
Hi there! Get my 2 dvds titled- power yoga , and the daily sutra.will help over all body shaping including stomach.
2. Hi Trisha, I am having tight muscles in lower back on and off, practising downward dog pose, child pose for last 1 year. Does the duration of the pose matter to prevent stiffening or should I look out for something else?
Hi,long durations of asanas does help as sometimes the body takes time to release the muscle stiffness. It can be more beneficial to do fewer asanas for longer durations as long as your muscles have the ability to hold out. So gradually increase the duration. Also u should do setubandhasan.
3. What’s the best way to learn proper technique for different yoga positions?
The best way is to go to a scientific class and listen very carefully to the instructions. You can also follow a dvd and watch carefully. Listen to your body’s signals and stop when you feel uneasy.
4. While doing downward dog pose, my back arches at times. If I try to force my butt up, my back muscles pull and I can feel nerve pinch. Would like your suggestions on this.
It is not necessary to push your butt too high if your nerve pinces. Go by your own pace. Do setubandhasan and half bhujangasan to help your sciatic nerve. Keep your lower spine slightly flatter than normal in down dog to prevent pain.
